Born John Christopher Depp in Kentucky, on June 9th, 1963, Johnny Depp was raised in Florida. He dropped out of high school at age fifteen in the hopes of turning into a rock musician.

He played with a collection of garage bands including The Children , which once opened for Iggy Pop. Depp got into acting after a trip to L. A. , California, with his ex Lori Depp, who introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage.

He made his film debut in A Nightmare on Elm Street . In 1987 he shot to mega stardom when he replaced Jeff Yagher in the job of clandestine cop Tommy Hanson in the popular Television series "twenty-one Jump Street " . In 1990, after many roles in teen-oriented films, his first of a few great collaborations with director Tim Burton came about when Depp played the title role in Edward Scissorhands . Following the film's success, Depp carved a gap for himself as a serious, slightly dark, unusual performer, habitually choosing roles that stunned critics and audiences alike.

He continued to gain fame by appearing in several features before re-joining with Burton in the lead role of Ed Wood . In 1997 he played a clandestine FBI agent in the fact-based film Donnie Brasco , opposite Al Pacino ; in 1998 he appeared in Fear and Loathing in Vegas , directed by Terry Giliam; and then, in 1999, he appeared in the Sci Fi / horror film The Astronaut's Wife . The same year he partnered up again with Burton in Sleepy Hollow , brilliantly portraying Ichabod Crane. Depp has played many characters in his career, including another fact-based one, Insp. Fred Abberline in From Hell . He robbed the show from screen greats like Antonio Banderas in the culmination to Robert Rodriguez's "mariachi " trilogy, at one Time in Mexico. In that very same year he headlined in the wonderful family smash hit Pirates of the Caribbean : The Curse of the Black Pearl , playing a personality that only the likes of Depp could pull off : the enthralling, conniving and roguish Capt.Jack Sparrow. Depp collaborated again with Burton in a screen modification of Roald Dahl's novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory .

His most recent work was another Burton adaptation of Alice of Wonderland, He was also recently in offbeat The Imaginarium of Dr Parnasis, Last years hit, Public Enemies, where he played John Dillinger, Off-screen, Depp has dated a few female stars, and has been engaged to Sherilyn Fenn, Jennifer Gray , Winona Ryder and Kate Moss. He was married to Lori Anne Allison in 1983 but they divorced her in 1985. Depp is living with French singer-actress Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has 2 youngsters : Lily-Rose Tune , born in 1999 and Jack, born in 2002.
