Speck's Tavern

Back a long time ago, there was a man who went by the nickname of Speck, and he served great hamburgers. Not just great tasting hamburgers ,but great big hamburgers. Long before Man vs Food, 1957 to be exact, Specks have been challenging big eaters with their 3 pound cheeseburger.

Actually, Speck's family has sold out, then bought back the restaurant a couple times when they didn't like the way the place was being run. The last time around, the buyer got the rights to the previous name-The Seabrook Bar and Grill, so they renamed the old place Speck's when they reopened.

The current owner is Speck's daughter, Debbie, and they still serve the big burgers.

College Hill Tavern

College Hill Tavern is as the name might indicate, is a tavern in the College Hill area.

What the name doesn't tell you is how good the food is.

My favorite burger there is called the Blu Hill -A great Bleu Cheese burger. They also feature other sandwiches, and appetizers.

Terry's Bar and Grill

Terry's Bar and Grill is a great downtown joint that is open early and late for your eating and drinking needs. Eating lunch there, you might find yourself with a laborer on one side of you and the governor on the other.

Their burgers are great, and they offer two different types of cheeseburger, One with the cheese inside and the other with the cheese on the outside Myself, I found the cheese on the inside to be a bit strange. They also have the usual sides such as fries and onion rings.

You can also view some of your favorite sports on the big screen TV's at Terrys

Horizon's Hamburger Palace

Horizon's is an old style drive in with plenty of sit down seating inside.

They offer gourmet style burgers of various types and you can pick whether you want beef or bison meat in your burger. You can also pick what size of pattie you want.

Another thing you will find at Horizon's is hand dipped ice cream shakes and malts.

They have pretty good fries and onion rings, They are hot and fresh. We are still trying to figure out their quantities, I swear at times the small is bigger than the large..
